Statement of Purpose

The Committee is responsible for arranging the nomination, selection and presentation of the SMSHP awards. The Committee is responsible for definition of criteria and development of new awards as approved by the Board. This Committee arranges for the monies and materials needed to present awards which have been approved by the Board of Directors: The committee will recommend recipients of awards to the Board in accordance with approved selection procedures.

Responsibilities and Activities

• Develop and/or review nomination criteria
• Recruit award nomination via:
  • Announcements at membership meetings
  • Information sent to healthsystem pharmacy directors and SMSHP committee chairpersons
  • Call healthsystem pharmacies to solicit nominations
• Review nominations and select award recipients
• Procure award plaques and arrange for engraving
• Solicit sponsorship/funds for awards from pharmaceutical manufacturers and pharmaceutical representative organizations
• Present awards at SMSHP Activities as well as announce recipients of U of M and WSU scholarships
• Send notice of award recipients to ASHP for publication in ASHP Journal
• Nominate SMSHP award recipients for awards offered by the MSHP
• Send check for SMSHP scholarships to U of M and WSU with accompanying letters
