The SMSHP Awards Committee is pleased to announce that Alison Lobkovich is the recipient of the 2018 SMSHP Resident CE Award.  We had an outpouring of worthy submissions this year!  After reviewing the materials and recommendations, we felt strongly that Dr. Lobkovich’s CE would be of great interest to the SMSHP membership.  Alison’s CE will be presented this fall at our September 12th meeting, and is entitled “Direct Acting Oral Anticoagulant Use in Special Patient Populations”.

We would also like to thank all those nominating individuals for their time and thoughtful submissions; it means a lot when we are able to recognize our peers & trainees for excellent work.

We look forward to seeing everyone this fall!  Enjoy your summer!

The constitution and bylaws have been updated by the Executive Board of Directors with assistance from ASHP. You can access a copy of the updated document via the link below. Please review the document as we will be voting on the proposed changes at our next meeting.

Click here to access the updated SMSHP Constitution and Bylaws

The following is a summary of the main points:

    • We had the attorneys from ASHP review our bylaws to make suggestions.
    • Almost all of the changes were editorial or to move many items from the bylaws to the Manual.
    • The board reviewed all of the bylaws and determined which items would stay in the bylaws and which would go into the Manual.
    • By moving items to the Manual the board could more readily make routine changes in procedural areas without requiring a membership vote.
    • The only real item of significance is that the dues section was also moved to the Manual. This was a recommendation from ASHP.
